What would be a safe cheap material to use for making a grill rack?

I'm not looking for anything extravagant, I just want to add a couple racks into this small smoker I have.

Also I didn't know where else to ask this so I put it in the recipe forum.

I found some of those cooling racks my wife uses to put cookies on after she takes them out of the oven, I would suggest going to the store to find them though, not in the kitchen like I did.

I'll second the cooling racks and they're safe to use in heat. You can get them with or without the legs.

I had the same idea when I saw them in the dollar store, but what could I do if they are too small or to large? Is there a way I can take them apart and put them back together the the size I want?

I used light wire and hung them from another rack above. Hope this helps.

How about hardware cloth? Could that safely be used?
