Spinnerbaits

Recommended Posts

In clear water I like the silver blades with a white skirt. For darker water I like gold blades with a bright skirt or even some gold or silver tinsel mixed in. I also prefer double colorado blades or a combo of Indiana and Colorado blades. I like these blades for slow rolling the spinnerbait along the weedlines. These blades also work good when pulling the bait to rise quickly and then letting the spinnerbait fall slowly.

I sure catch alot of pike "incidentally" while musky fishing on rad dogs and grinders.

Black/orange, black/nickel, and bright colors combinations (chartreuse, orange, yellow..."firetiger type stuff") have always worked well for me.

What blades to use depends on what kind of water/cover you are fishing. Common blade combos out there are single, tandem and willow, which all have their time and place. Smaller single blade versions tend to work better deeper (less resistance), while bigger or multiple blade versions will work good for shallow water or bulging near the surface.

For smaller bass/pike spinnerbaits, I am pretty fond of the ones made locally by Gopher Tackle, but believe me, almost any pike has no trouble hitting a musky size spinnerbait! Good luck with those pike....

I like 1/2 oz for pike and they come with big tandem willow blades. Gold blades if its sunny; silver if its cloudy. Bass Pro Shops brand is a good one and they are cheap like 2.99 and they are good quality.

i love to use the white spinnerbait, with gold and silver blades.

I have always had great luck with this type of blades.

I agree. I've had the best luck with white spinnerbaits. They seem to catch the most for me.

Only problem is that with smaller lures, I've had everything from crappies, pike, bass, and even an occasional walleye hit on them.
