Whitewater??

Going to Whitewater SP for Mother's Day weekend and I was wondering if anyone had any info on how cooperative the trout are and with what gear, spinning or fly.

I was there for opener a few weeks ago and I had some luck with the fly rod with some small terrestrial (ant) patterns, but better luck with a tiny green & chartreuse Kastmaster...after we started fishing smaller streams and tighter quarters, I switched exclusively to the ultralight and the Kastmaster and had good luck on it the rest of the day. Never changed, had it all on the whole day.

Opener was a 1st for me - first time I didn't lose at least one fly or spinner/spoon down there. In fact, I ended up going home + 8 for the day....fishing a couple stretches of the marginal waters on the way out of the WMA going east towards 61, I found a ratty old Orvis pouch with a Plano microbox which contained 8 perfect condition #0/00 Mepps single hook spinners, all those bug patterns that Gander mountain here never seems to stock. Surprised at the condition, judging by the cover of that Orvis pouch, that box had been on the ground for quite some time.

Thanks for the info, I will pack accordingly. Those Kastmasters are nice, they catch just about everything. I've lost my share of equipment down there, too. Its nice to have luck with the fish AND finding lost goodies.
