On board charger

Question. I would like to get an on board charger but I keep my boat at the cabin most of the summer and do not have electricity, just a generator. I have my deep cells hooked up to a solar trickle charger and that seems to keep the batteries topped off in between trips to the cabin. Does anybody know if you can use a solar charger with an on board charger or do you need 110 going to the on board? If you need 110, does the on board charger charge about the same speed as your normal deep cycle charger? I sometimes need 12 or more hours to charge my 2 batteries. Thanks. I'm going to buy new batteries tonight and I can always buy more stuff if I need to.

You would need normal household voltage to the onboard charger.

The time it takes to charge is a function of battery capacity, state of discharge, and charger capacity.

An example...

100A-Hr battery, 50% discharged (meaning 50A-Hr used), charging with a 10A charger, would take approximately 5 hours to recharge.

All the math is proportional so if you have more batteries, more or less discharge, more or less charging amps, tec. you can figure out the approximate recharge time.
