SimilarIsland
Sorry, couldn't resist. I fished God's lake 30 years ago with my grandfather. Best time out of eight trips to Canada. Stayed at God's River Lodge. Uncle flew us in a C-47, landed on a gravel runway and came 1' from the cabin with his wing while turning around. Caught Eye's 'til I was tired of it. Huge Pike, I think it was trophy whitefish they were catching down the river. I would walk out behind the cabins and catch as many Northerns as could every extra minute. Shore lunches every day. I remember the tin cup that the guide handed me when I said I was thirsty. That trip made me fall in love with Canada for eternity.
Doop
I'm guessing a trip to God's lake would be spendy right?
SimilarIsland
I would guess, but I didn't have to pay for it. Thank God my Grandfather had his priorities in line!

FOOTDOC
I have fished God's Lake the last three spring's. My initial trip was 5 years ago to Elk Island in July with a very wealthy friend who has a Pilotus Jet. Well, he flew us from Indiana up to Elk Island, which is in the middle of God's Lake. Our fishing at that time was good by most standards but then I was asked to go with a group of guys to God's River Lodge. I have gone the last 3 springs - always the first group in at the end of May. The fishing at God's River lodge is nothing short of spectacular. Every year, we have caught trophy northerns, walleyes, brook trout, lakers and whitefish. The lodge is very good but not spectacular. The guides are OK but again, can be a bit non-motivated. The cool thing about staying at the God's river lodge is you at the mouth of the river and the river is full of brookies and splake. THe brookies are 20" plus and absolutely tough. One morning, my sons and I did a fly in to a remote lake from God's lake and by lunch, Eric had 17 northerns over 44". He was using those storm plastic/rubber body baits that look like panfish and tearing them up in the streams leading to this lake. Overall, I will go back to God's. I will miss this year as Eric's pharmacy schooling is now year round. He is in his 6th year. If you decide to go, please ask and I will be happy to fill you in on lures we really did well with and particular guides to ask for. I do hope you go and am confident you will not regret the trip. Yes, it is a bit pricey but memories like those are priceless!
Doop
It would be my dream to take a trip like that to a lake like God's Lake. I would definitely need to save a few minnows to make a trip like that actually happen...but it sure sounds like it would be worth it!!!!
