Universal sonar??

traveler

Question

So I took the plunge and bought a new MinnKota 24 volt bowmount...dealing with the install now, which I've already asked a couple questions about(thanks). It's a Riptide series (wanted white to match the boat deck). It has all the bells and whisltes; I didn't ask for/look for universal sonar, but theres a wire about a foot long coming out with an end that looks like a transducer cable...so it must have it??? Checked the Cabelas HSOforum (where I bought it) and it doesn't mention it. Any thoughs, other than buying a cable and trying it? Also, if it IS un. sonar, is there a "splitter" of some sort to be able to hook 2 transducers to the same sonar unit, or do I have to buy another unit of some kind? Which I would likely do, to have one up front, which I've never had.

I couldn't find any mention of Universal Sonar on Minn-Kota's HSOforum for the Riptide series.

The cable you see is most likely the one for the foot control pedal. It has a connector similar to a transducer or GPS cable that connects to the back of a sonar unit.

Thanks guys...no puck:( Guess it's for the foot pedal like Lmitout said. This model doesn't come with the foot pedal, it's got the little remote gizmo instead. I'll know more after fishing with it awhile, but I move around and cast a lot, so I wasn't too keen on a pedal amyhow. Good to know i can add one later if I want to.
