My wife and I have half a dozen Quantum spinning reels between us that we love (Energy PTi, Catalyst and Kinetic). The oldest has held up for 5 seasons with no issues. Quantum reels feel smoother to me than the equivalent Shimano's that I have, but it would be hard to go wrong with either brand.
