The little lady is hooked

Took the girlfriend catfishing for the first time yesterday. No expectations, just a nice day on the water, listen to the radio and get a tan. Her first cat was a 30" 17lb channel. Her second was a 32" 23lb channel. As soon as i figure out how to post pictures i'll toss 'em on here. She's already asked me when we're going again. Not a bad way to start the year!

What kind of bait were you using?

Both were channel cats. I have yet to catch a flathead, I just started catfishing last year. I fish the St. Croix N. of Taylor Falls, I prefer chicken liver, but I was using cut bait and circle hooks yesterday. I've never seen fish like that before, typically i'll get 3-5 lb average. My biggest was 9lb last year. Maybe i'm dating lady luck, who knows. But man she caught some HOGS! Like I said, i'll post a pic as soon as I get the film developed. I sure hope she doesn't expect similar results every time!

I got this "pig" on the south end of Minnesota, almost to pool two the other weekend. I figure it was around 15lbs. It sure is possible to catch one around 20lbs. Would like to see your pic's though. Welcome to F.M.! Good luck!
