Rope Lighting

The better half just bought me some rope lighting and being the time of the year I was wondering if anyone uses it for there boats? I opened the package and noticed there are 2 alligator clips loose and two white wire feeds not a positve and negative just two cables. My question is can I attach those 2 clips to a 12 volt battery not knowing what is positive and negative? I understand red and black not 2 whites.

Hi Squirrel; If the rope lights are 12 volt DC you can attach either wire to either the pos or neg post and it will light.
