Guest
My best fishing partner ever was my daughter. No boys just one little girl. She still enjoys going fishing with me(she's 20 now)when she has the time. When I was dating my wife and after we were married for a short while we all would fish a lot together.Of course we had an appartment on a lake with dockage so it was just easy to get out. After you grow for a while interests change.I have become a litlle more serious when it comes to fishing and my wifes interests have also changed(dang horses). She still loves to fish and goes out fishing with her buddies on occasion, but fishing together has been limited to a couple times a year for the last ten years of our marriage. It comes down to the point that sometimes its not that you significant other does'nt want you to enjoy what you love its that they just want to see more of you and are not willing to give up as much time to fishing and hunting as you are. Guest
I, in my late twenties have encountered a similar situation! First it was the severing of friendships "A.K.A.fishing partners" when everyone was getting married and had new jobs. Now it's babies! It's getting harder and harder to find someone who can break away long enough to fish.I work 6 days a week and don't get weekends off so I usually go by myselfe or in rare situations, I take my wife, who loves "Catching" rather than "fishing", but is not passionate about it like I am! P.S. we are currently trying for a child so I suppose I will be me in this situation of which I've just preached, next winter! Get out when you can with or without company! Guest
I must be in the stage that you guys call "the glory days" or "good old days" "still [PoorWordUsage]ing like a puppy" Hearin you guys makes me appreciate my time now. But I'll still look forward to the day when when I can lift my leg up all the way.
SpikeRoberts
My wife likes to fish just not as often as I like to, but I'm thankful that she understands how much I enjoy it and is willing to help me make time to get out at least once a week. Bigguns,I've lived your fear that your girlfriend will become better than you (or at least catch a bigger fish when you do get out). We had the pleasure of fishing Lake Michigan on our honeymoon and my wife caught a 25# pound salmon while I only managed a few 8#-12# steelhead. It was worth it to see the smile on her face though -- something like this
Guest
When I take someone out fishing with me, Its the best feeling in the world to have them catch fish. I wouldn't care if I didn't catch a thing as long as they were catching fish and having fun. I'm sure its the same for the rest of you guys. Guest
My wife is my most reliable and enjoyable fishing partner. We travel all over, and our most memorable trip was camping and fishing on LOW. I've got her hooked on that lake (and am I the lucky one!). I can't say this about too many other friends. I have some friends who are single and fish their brains out, but live far away. Others I have seen get married who live nearby, and we only enjoy about two trips per year if we're lucky. I have heard a lot of my friends say "(wife) promised me that this baby will not change my fishing habits and I can still go whenever I want". Man, did I laugh at him when he said that....and I don't have a child of my own. Let's just say they learned real quick and the plans to buy a nice boat and fish whenever they want, not gonna happen. They probably fish a few times a year! It happens.

Guest
I'd like to take this time to pay respect to yet another friend of mine I've lost to the world of women. There should be some kind of support group for people like me. You guys are kinda like my mentors, we'll get through it,right? What am I supposed to say, (sarcasm) "Hey, I think that you're spending a little too much time with her and not enough with me" As the years go on I hope It doesn't get any worse.
