I am a little confused! In the manual it says hooking it up to the battery and doesn't say anything about a fuse. It just says connect it to the battery, but on the wire it says to use a 35 amp fuse. I talked to another guy who bought one and he never used a fuse. He just plugged into the battery. Is it needed?

I would recommend instead of a fuse, use
one of those self-resetting circut breaker
set-ups. They are available at most boat
places for a few dollars.

Markley I allso have a minkota power drive and I would highly recommand putting in an inline fuse just as tumbleweed suggested allso.

I just got an Minn Kota auto pilot. They suggest to use a manual reset fuse. Any reason for the manual vs. the auto reset? Maye the manual reset forces you to address the cause of the overload.
