Walleye fishing beyond MN close?

Any recommendations for walleye fishing outside of MN now that season is all but closed? Open to traveling to Ontario, Dakotas and Wisconsin. I've done significant amount of open-water fishing in these areas but not through the ice.

big stone and all border lakes with s dakota open until the end of the month. norht east s dakota lakes like bitter, waubay and reetz also good bets. watch the restrictions on reetz but waubay has good numbers and bitter good size

Go to the LOW. Don't have to worry about getting new license from a different state, the last time I was there it was pretty easy to find fish (wherever the truck stopped).

Lake of the Woods. The bite gets going pretty good at this time of the year.

Devils Lake, ND has some great walleye fishing. Generally, it's an early morning and evening bite, though certain places will give them up during the day; generally deeper water. Just ran into a guy yesterday who pulled a dandy out of 45 ft. only to loose it at the hole. Folks frequently pull in fish in the 5-8 lb and fish pushing 10 are not rare by any means. In addition, if you can find the perch, they'll keep you busy 'til evening falls. I brought home a handful yesterday including two 1 1/2 pounders, and lost a couple other nice ones.

I'm heading out in a couple weeks to fish Ontario for a weekend. Last time there, we experienced the best walleye fishing through the ice I could ever dream of. I'd suggest it, but I don't know exactly where we were!

Lake of the Woods is still open, being a border water. I think until April 14th. Anyway it's open through March, I'm guessing there won't be ice come April anyway, but keep that in mind.

Try SD. only in some area's does it close here, but we are losing ice fast here, back to foot traffic know.
