Navionics chip problem?

My neighbor has started playing with his new Navionics chip, an the only way that his lowrance will recognize it is to open the tray, pull it out just a touch, (or all the way for that matter) and reinstall the tray. Every time he turns the unit on, he has to physically remove the chip and replace it for his lcx-25c to recognize that it is in.

At first glance, I thought it was his lowrance, but we switched chips, and my chip worked like a champ in his boat, and with his chip my boat, I was experiencing the same problem as he was.

Any ideas?

do you both have the same chip or do you have the lakemasters chip? most of the new navionics chips when put into the lowrance product have to be reconized by you phyically telling the graph to see it..this is because the navionics chip has several regions on it and you have to enter in which region you want to view..should be a place in the map data section that you can tell the unit which region you want to enter..just like a computer you have to highlight that area and hit enter for it to see it..

Yeah, forgot to post that. We both have the navionics chip. I did have to pick the regions originally, when ever I turned my unit on, it will automatically go back to the same region. Across the street we picked a region, turned the unit off, turned it back on, no Navionics, opened the tray, removed and then replaced chip, Navionics showed up, with the region we had chosen earlier.

It might be a default in the chips design. If you don't see any defects consider contacting Navionics and see what they say. Might have to trade in the bad chip.

That is kinda what I thought. Just hoped there was an easy explanation.
