lip_ripper
I put one in the back yard. Made about a 20 winding river w/ a 3 foot waterfall. Drops into a 400 gallon 40 inch deep peanut shaped pond. Used the slope of the yard so it looks pretty natural. Love the sound of the water falling down the rocks. Hand picked the field stones (3 pick up loads) dug the pond by hand laid the rubber and designed the whole works myself.Bought a book or two from local do-it yourselfer store. It's a must. It'll give great ideas.Planted shrubs, hostas, wild columbine w/cedar mulch around the creek and phlox and creeping plants around pond.Submerisble pump pumps water thru a 1 1/4 hose up to the container which spills back to the start up the creek.Stocked the pond w/ golfish that grow big enough to fillet.Start-up in spring can be a days worth of work but otherwise it's easy to enjoy the rest of the summer. Add a little algea killer thats about it.If you're collecting rocks keep an eye out for flat one's to build your waterfall. Try to design it where it looks natural. Some stuff can be purchased at local retail stores but for bigger items you may need a specialty store or thru the internet.St.Cloud area has a "parade of ponds " exhibit thru the community at different houses which can give you ideas also.Anymore questions or if you want pixs posted let me know.
