Has Anyone here built a log home?

We are looking at buliding a log home on a acreage and wnated to know if anyone had any experience here with one. Any pitfalls, things to look out for w/ companies, how you like it , etc. This is one way I can get my wife to move back on a acreage. Any insight/info would be great.

We had a small log cabin built. One of the first things to do is to decide if you want hand crafted or machined milled. Most log builders do one or the other. The hand crafted tends to cost a little bit more but I think it looks better. You get the imperfections that come with a log instead of all the logs uniform size and shape. It's a personal preference of course. Then research, research and research a little more.
