Reminder to Marcum + DCS Owners

It's most likely that time of year you've retired your trusty Marcum until the hard water returns next winter. Don't forget to disconnect your DCS from the battery before you put the unit into storage or you may try to fire up that Marcum next winter only to find a spent battery. Either disconnect the DCS or periodically charge the battery throughout the summer to prevent this from happening. Believe me, I'm talking from experience!

The small draw from the DCS will eventually drain the battery and ruin it. Put a good charge on the battery and then disconnect the wires for summer.

Also, one could plug in the DCS and leave it on all summer. You should check it every so often though.

Do you have to totally disconnect all of the wires or would just disconnecting one of the wire be okay?

I'd wish that they made a master on/off switch on the unit.

One of the wires should be sufficient to kill the DCS.

Thanks I didn't even think about it. I just got a Marcum at the end of the ice fishing season last year and didn't even think about this. Guess I just got used to the Vex Ultra Pack's Master switch shutting it all down. Again thanks for the heads up I'll put it back on the charger and pull the wire before putting it away again. I usually charge the units a couple of times durring off season anyway but....
