Wow - it's hard to find any info on this part of the river. My parents live about 45 minutes from there and I am in the Twin Cities. Usaully head down once or twice a year for some spring training. Went last weekend and fished below dam. Ended up with 20+ saugers and a handful of little walleyes. Also caught some little cats and you always acidentally hook into a paddle fish that takes you for a ride. We unhook them while there still in the water. Anyhow 3/8 jig heads multi colored worked real slow produced for us. Look to the deep drops.

I went to college in Vermillion and did a lot of fishing in the yankton area during that time. I only shore fished, no boat. Below the dam this time of year, I usually fished near the handicapped fishing pier in that big area of slack water. Its a pretty solid spot for many species: walleye, sauger, cats, white bass, crappie, smallies plus skipjack, paddlefish, etc. In Lake Yankton you can catch a pile of largemouths and the occasional crappie. Above the dam, on the face, smallies are abundant and the big cats move in there in the evening and at night. I've had several nights where I caught a pile of huge cats on the face of the dam.

Hope that helps
