Carpet for basement

We are wanting to put some carpet in the basement but don't want to pay a lot as we are looking at moving. Anyone have any ideas of carpet or installers that are not so costly?

OK, so I'm pretty biased, being a carpet installer for 28 years. Good installation is the best thing you can do for your carpet. I understand there are times folks look to save money of course, but the alternatives to good carpet and installation are...bad carpet and installation. I would suggest you buy some kangaback off the rack at the lumber yard, cut it in yourself and double face tape it down. Let the next guy change it out in a few years.

If you want cheap and easy, throw down that $0.50-$0.80 a square cheap laminate wood flooring. It takes a day or two to install and if you do not move, you do not have to replace in 2-4 years. Also if you’re selling house, it is an up sell and not just the norm.

Traveler hit it on the head go to a box store and see what they have.

If you are really planing on selling your house, I would go with the kanga back.

If there are any mom and pa shop's around you are check with them depending on the size of the room they may have a rem.

One thing to be careful of with a wood floor is if the floor is cold now it will be cold when you put the wood in.

I do agree with Traveler as well. Nothing beet slapping down a cheap remnant and carpet tape. As for the laminate, I priced out around 380 square feet of the Menards cheapest and it was around $380.00, which included there best under lament insulation. I figure it would be the same price to put in cheap carpet with under pad. Nothing beets the cold basement floor, unless you throw an elec. warmer grid under it. Good Luck!
