hawgTime
Legal or not? Assuming they're not illegal (don't want to venture down that path, do we), has anyone had any luck using them?mike[disclaimer, if illegal] I do not own any, have never used any, would never use any, and am not associated with anyone who owns them, or uses them, or has ever used them. Does that cover it?
SpikeRoberts
hawgtime, yes they are legal in MN. I asked the same question seven-eight weeks ago when we were waiting for the ice to form and was told by many that they are made to catch fisherman not fish -- because I believe a good portion of the advice on the fourm I never tried them (although I still haven't caught anything on my angel eyes yet ). I also saw the Northland Tackle TV show "Fishin' the Midwest" w/ Bob Jenkins and they were using them up on URL attached to their splitshots a foot+ above the jig (I guess they don't even really believe in them). Some folks did say they worked well to light your icebuster bobbers -- haven't tried that trick either. I guess what I am saying is that I have a pack of mini-glow sticks for sale -- any takers? PS hawgtime, how ya been? any good fishin lately?
Uncle Grump
HiI tryed some of those things (attached to myjigs) a couple of weeks ago when fishing for crappie one evening. I couldn't prove they worked, but couldn't prove they don't work either. For me, the jury is still out. I can see where they might be useful when attached to a bobber - making it easier to see. Guest
You know of the Judas Principal?(one line with the big "attractor" bait, one that the attracted fish might bite) Well, if you don't have a big, flashy, vibrating, noisy lure to draw in the fish, these Northland glow sticks that attatch to your jig or hook will attract anything and everything in the drink. I have had great luck with a line that is down close to the line that has the glow stick, but I have NEVER caught anything on the line holding a glow stick. Never tried for pike, but glow is not really a factor fishing pike at day. Maybe the fish up at rainy river might hit it. I think the local lakes fishing pressure tames the fish to be cautious what they bite on. Good luck.------------------If it eat's, you can catch it. Guest
I agree with CaliMartin420. These glow sticks will attract fish but they don't trigger fish to bite. A lot of people ran out and bought these glow sticks but I haven't heard of anyone catching any fish. This topic has appeared on numerous other forums with the same response--good for attracting but poor for triggering.Good Fishing, Matt.
