Clear Lake Iowa Muskie Tournament

Has anyone tried this tournament before? I think it's scheduled for April 28th this year. I'm trying to talk my brother into going down there and giving it a try. Anyone know how it works or prizes? I've sent several emails to the person in charge, but he won't reply.

I fished this tournament a couple years ago and had a good time. The weather wasn't so great even had a little snow storm. If I remember right there were 20-25 fish caught. They had some nice prizes and drawings. You could sign up the night before at a pizza place, which was the same place the awards ceremony was. The big fish was about 45". I wanted to go back last year but couldn't find any info on it. If you find out info on it please pass it on I think it would be fun to go back, especially now that I know a few things about the lake!

Back when I was involved in MI, folks raved about how much fun the tourney was. It sounds like the awards dinner is way worth the price of admission.

I called him a few days ago and left a voicemail. He did call back, but I was at work. He said he was going to call me back yesterday, but never did.

I just talked to the guy in charge. Here's what he told me. There's a meeting Friday night at a pizza place called "The Other Place". You can go there anytime between 5pm and midnight to sign up and pay the entry fee. You will get a hat to wear when you catch a muskie, to verify your catch. Can use a digital camera or a polaroid camera. Entry fee is $30 per person. The tournament starts at 6am and goes to 7pm. Need to meet back at the pizza place by 8pm to register any fish caught. There will be some door prizes also. If you want to talk to him, his phone # is 641-424-0827. His name is Chris. Hope that helps. Should be fun.

Hey Cuz. What's up? Yeah, me and dad are heading down to Clear Lake for a muskie tournament. Travis backed out on me, so I asked him. I just can't wait until June to get out muskie fishing. Got the fever bad again this year. The lakes down here have been open for about a week now. Haven't been out yet. Hoping to get out to Bloody Lake soon to catch a few crappies. When are you going to Rainy???? So what's up for the muskie opener?
