North American Verstile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA). What do you guys know about this club? Of course I could go to their HSOforum, call a few guys and get a bias answer.

I went to a seminar they put on down at Cabela's on Saturday. The seminar was to learn about the different field tests they provide for you and your dog. Good program.

I talked with one of representatives and got the impression that it was a good ole boys club and you need to know someone to get an edge in the group. Those aren't real selling points for someone interested in learning more and possibly joining.

Most clubs will be a little Good old boyish for a while until you know folks and they know you. I don't know exactly what you mean by "get an edge". There really is no edge to get in NAVHDA because the dogs are tested to a standard instead of judged for placements so getting an edge shouldn't be an issue. If you go and find it not to your liking you could move on to something else. Introduce yourself to a bunch of the members and determine which one is most amenable to helping you. My guess is if you join and work hard at teaching your dog things will work out just fine. Bring a case of beer for after the training session. grin.gif How can they not like a guy who brings beer.
