Rust on Brick

I have some rust stains on my chimney from a previous top that has now been removed. This spring I am going to try and remove some rust stains on the brick.

Has anyone ever been able to sucessfully remove rust from brick on a chimney? I am sure there are some type of chemicals that work better than others. Any feed back would be much appreciated.

I work for an Architecture/Engineering firm out of Milwaukee, and most of the work we do deals with restoration of brick buildings. When it comes to removing stains in brick it is hard to specify one product, but we generally spec out Prosoco products. Each product reacts differently so one thing you might want to do is try and get a hold of a local rep or someone at the company to see if they can give you the information that you need.
