SS prop pitch for 90hp 4-stroke tiller ?

Gofishleech

Question

I am picking up a new boat soon and the dealer did not seem to know what pitch SS prop to put on the 90hp 4-stroke tiller. The boat is a Alumacraft TP 185. Does anyone have this rig or a comparable rig that can give advice?

Thanks

I have a 94 Lund prov 1890 with a merc 90, the rig is older and the motor is 2 stroke but similar in style and weight.

I originally had a 3 bladed 19p aluminum prop that worked ok and ran about 38-39mph.

Last year I found a deal on a 17p 4 bladed comp prop that I was going to use as a spare.

I had to try the comp prop and was very surprised how much better my boat performed.
I did loose about 4 mph but the boat planes at a much lower speed and handles when fully loaded boat much better.

For me it was a good trade off, better planeing and full load control. The boat also trolled down slower.

I never did take the 17p prop off and currently have the 19p as a spare.

Hope this helps.
