Does anyone know how many ft. is public right of way along a county road? And is it measured from the edge or the middle of the road? Is there a HSOforum where I could look this up? Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated!
Oh yeah...this is in MN.

I used to work from the McLeod County Highway department and the City of Hutchinson, Hutchinson is in McLeod County. Is the road you are referring to in McLeod Co.? If it is which one is it because I may be familiar with it. The right-of-way is measured from the center and can range from 33 to 60 feet from centerline. It may be 33 as the previous poster said but they are not all 33 feet. If the road is older it probably is 33 or 40 feet, if it is new it could be 60 foot. I am a Transportation Planner so I deal with these issues daily. If you have any other questions please ask. By the way its nice to see a Hutch area forum on this HSOforum, I fish the Hutch area lakes a lot.

Can anyone answer this question? There is a great spot for shore fishing on the Roseau river north of town, you drive out to the very end of a county road, here sits a end of road sign, landowners driveway goes off to the right at the end of the road also. The river is 20 feet from the sign at most. Couple years back he put up sheep netting and posted it. I have fished here since I was a kid so I was bummin'. I can see why he posted it on a count of idiots leaving garbage, dead fish, ect. Many people have told me this is unlawfully posted. I have known this guy for years and have asked permission and been told no, I respect that and now have to go by boat to fish here. Can anyone shed lite on the law regarding this?

Thanks....Fisky

No, no problems...at least not yet! I was just wondering because of all the 'No Trespassing' signs, some of them are within ten feet of the road at the edge of the lake.
