LACROSSE AREA

Recommended Posts

I actually had "fish fry" at the old "chicken steak and chocolate cake" (aka Johns) which is now the Blue Moon. Anyway, the dam below Dresback is open and there are some ships running. Everything above is frozen still from the reports I received.

Shiner, Rockies is king.....I have looked high and low, and nothing compares to the circular bar, table top pac man machine, standing room only, constant gun raffle for the fire department, and people in cut offs to sunday best waiting for a table to gorge themselves. I met my brother there one night at 9:00 pm, he drove from Chicago.....where is the blue moon by chance, not that I would forgo Rockies, but I like to have back up plan.....Did you hit the bodega though???? "The Wheel of Beer" is the best deal in LaX.

Wade, I grew up in NE IA, Waukon to be exact, taught for two years in Lansing, moved up to the metro area, got married, have two kids, and have been trying to figure out how to get back to that part of the country ever since.....Washed dishes at Rockies, man, your are a GOD!!!! (okay not really, but I am envious)

Oh yeah, and Duane W, my dad is from Preston, My great great great grandfather Jerome Utley established the town of Carimoni which is no longer there.....

It's on 2nd Ave. N. in Onalaska across from the giant Sunfish.....never been to rockies but I hear good things (ie. cheese curds as big as your head). We did not make it to the Bodega tonight, but I do enjoy that bar.

I'll go you one better picks. I Went to DeSoto High school. The owner of Rockies is a family freind. I graduated in 82, joined the navy, left for 20 years then came back. Then was offered more money to transfer to Duluth with the company I work for, so I moved up here.

I have eaten my weight in fri nght fish there at least ten times over thru the years. The cheese curds are excellent. Next time your there, try the "Bluefish" its awsome. Oh yeah, and tell Janie, the Hostess that Wade says Hi.
