East side of Lake Michigan in mid-October

I will have the opportunity to hit the East side of Lake Michigan this October, around the Traverse City area. Would like to hunt for salmon and/or lake trout.Is this a decent time to hit the water hunting for either of these species? Any suggestions on a charter from the Traverse City area?

I have caught Lakers in Lake Lelenau in October in the past, I am not sure about Lake Michigan though. If you get the chance, try this lake.....it holds a lot of nice fish!

When I lived in Michigan I had the chance to go salmon fishing out on Michigan around September and it was great. We hit them just as they were getting ready to make the runs up river, so fishing in October may not produce as many and as large of fish if you went earlier due to the fact that the fish die. Some of the locals could give you a better date to the spawning runs but otherwise, you should probable be able to catch fish.
