I've spent some time muskie fishing Waconia. It depends on the time of year but it gets cloudy, although I wouldn't call it "dirty". There is lots of milfoil. If you look at your map, it's not a hard lake to fish. I've had real good luck on small bright colored bucktails, although I probably haven't given other lures a chance. I think the forage base is perch but there are drum and other things in there too. All in all a fun lake to fish. The guys at In Town Marina on the lake and Cabin Fever in Victoria are always helpful and can give you current conditions and reports. Good luck. Just stay away from the ones I'm going to catch this summer!!

I have had follows on this lake from just about everything I have thrown, cranks, bucktails, spinner baits, dive and rise jerkbaits, topwaters... does not seem to matter.

Last year I fished it minimally, but my experiences have always been around weeds or more like in the weeds. Working baits through weeds or topwaters over the tops of thick patches. Fouling up is aggrevating, but I also like the potential rewards.

I also prefer early in the year when the water clarity is better, before the heat arrives.

Try downsizing early in the season also, I have had some positive experiences with this also.

For some reason i have a lot of muskie's follow and hit my bass spinnerbaits on this lake. I also think that downsizing your lures on this lake is a good idea. The main forage in this lake is perch but there is also good numbers of freshwater drum and golden shiners. Last Fall i helped a guy land a 50" because he was fishing alone. There in there!
