Flush mounts on an alumacraft navigator?

Has any one installed flush mount rod holders on their navigator? If you have any installation hints would be appreciated.

I posted a question about rod holders also. Did you ever learn anything about the flushmounts? I have looked at them, but am nervous about punching that size hole in my gunnels.

I picked up a round flush mount for the Quickdraw and Scottys rod holders from Cabelas last spring for my Navigator. And after looking it over, it looked like you wouldn't be able to attach the nylon nut on the bottom due to the angle of the boat under the gunnel, so I returned it.

The regular flush mounts would probably work, but I've decided to go a different route, I'll be using Driftmaster rod holders with the round base mounted on the gunnel. With the Scottys, popping all those big holes thru the top AND bottom layer of the gunnel along with the bolt holes seemed like a lot alteration. Plus, I plan on running LED ropelight under my gunnels and those flush mounts would have probably been in the way. Good luck.
