ice lakes?

hey guys. not looking for specific spots, just wondering if its possible to catch channels through the ice on any lake where they are present and what to look for as to where and what equip. to use and is cut bait still the bait to use on hard water? thanks for any help, i would love to pull some cats through the hole.

I've only targeted them on the Horseshoe chain, but I would imagine you could catch them anywhere there is a good population. I wish I could find a good place in the cities.

They will suspend a lot in the winter, so a sonar is very valuable for targetting them. I've had best luck with the good half of a fathead stuck on a small jigging spoon. I've also taken some on a live fathead under a bobber, but the jigging spoon has outproduced that by a lot.
