Chubby Darters

anyone been using the lure the chubby darter. Can it really catch sunnies

I personally never have caught a sunfish on a chubby.. But have caught bigger crappies and perch on them.. Size 4 for an aggressive bite and to weed out the little guys if all sizes are schooled together..

Actually this past weekend, I used the size 4 in Luminscent Orange and Yellow Metallic Dace for perch. Fished the chubby clean and the perch were nailing it!!!

I have caught Perch, walleyes, and a few northerns on them. I have had the camera down at times, it is interesting to see the fish react to different jigging methods, sometimes they will smack it when it's jigged, sometimes it has to settle for a few seconds before they hit it, or sometimes it will spook them.

When fishing Chubby's do you guys use fire line or mono. I am wondering because its such and expensive lure. Do you put mono leaders on? Just curious

hopefully there will be some fish caught on these lures. are they worth the price

I use fire line and I swear by the new glow darter I am a beleiver not sure about sunnies but the eyes love them. DZ

When targeting walleyes, yes I use Power Pro. Helps eliminate break off greatly.. Havent really had the need for a super line when targeting perch or crappies, but I do not do it very often with the darters. Only on select lakes or a select bite.

Tyger leader material is something you might also want to look into if your worried about bite offs.

It made me a believer last weekend. A friend and I were fishing LOTW and I had 12 eyes in the house with the perch darter before he even had one.
