Yes you can,Ive been running the 18amp batteries for about seven years now. They are alot heavier but run forever.I take them up to canada on flyins where there is no electricity, also use them on my vex all winter. The only problem is they only fit in the old style blue box.

Remember I said the old style blue box.The new one out I think has some trim around the edges so the battery has a little more snug fit. That 18amp battery is bigger than the regular vex battery. Not sure where you can get the old blue box, maybe someone on this site might have one for sale.

I have an old blue box that has been retired in my garage for years if you are interested, it should be in good shape I never used it... Live in Rosemount work in St. Paul if that helps. OOPs I see that would be a long trip for you. If you can't find one locally let me know we can work something out.

Go to a batteries plus store in the twin cities. You need to ask for a 12 volt 18 amp hour sealed battery. They should be in that $40 arena.

Batteries plus is the place to go.Werker batteries is what I have been using.12volt 18amp at batplus is 53.99 right now.Thats a pretty good price,I think I payed 65 two years ago.Remember though, they arent light, they weight 14 lbs.
