LED Light question

Ok, I picked up some 1157 bulbs online and am having some trouble hooking them up, I guess I'm electrically challenged. The sockets I picked up have 2 contacts, one wire goes to each. The bulb has a center contact. I'm guessing I'm not getting contact there. Anyways, is there different 1157 sockets? I just picked mine up at Fleet Farm.

1157's are standard stop-turn-tail bulbs they have two contacts on the bottom, if your bulbs only have one contact they are not 1157's. There should be writing on the brass base check what number you actually purchased I have seen bulbs mispackaged in the past. Good Luck.

A single contact on the center of the bulb sounds like they may be 1156 (tail lights).

I like the idea of using an 1157 bulb though. use it on the taillight setting for normal lighting or on the stop light setting to blind your partner and steal his fish or beer or bait or lunch or etc.

The case is ground and the tab or tabs on the bottom are positive. 1156 has one pos tab a 1157 has 2 tabs one for low and one for high both together lights up all the led's.
