Looking for a Christmas puppy

I have a buddy who's dog unfortunately hung himself on his collar about a month ago....he is finally ready to get a pup, something that would be a good family dog, and do a little hunting...does not have to be a purebread, but he doesn't have any money to spend, being Christmas time and all. He is looking possibly for something to give his two boys (age 8 and 2) for Christmas as they really miss their pup.

Anyone know of any litters out there that people are looking to give to a good home? They would like a female (actually, wife insists on it)

check out the mayo or IBM classified ads, theres always "give to a good home" pups, alot of mix breed dogs, adoption from paws and claws is another option, although there a big supporter of PETA
