The 9, 12, and 19 degree ducers refer to the cone angle that the transducer puts out. The 9 is best if you fish real deep waters (over 50') and the 19 is best for shallower waters (under 50'). One thing to remember, if you are using a 19 in, say, 30fow the target you see on the flasher near the bottom could be quite far from you lure. In the same water depth with a 9 degree, the target will be very close to you lure. I would recommend a 12 if you fish as deep as 50' and a 19 for 30' and under.

Do you fish on the bottom for walleyes a lot? If so, get the FL 18 as it has a zoom mode that will show the bottom 6' and pick the targets apart better. If you fish a lot of pannies and frequently 15fow and less, get the 12. It has a low power mode which will take out the clutter you usually see right under the ice. If you can swing the extra $$$, opt for the FL 20. You will get all the above features on the same unit plus a few more.
