Walleye Fishing w/Spring Bobber

Ok... so us ND people (or me at the very least) are a little behind the times... just today I saw the St Croix Spring Bobber rod that came out last year... looks pretty nice.

In my mind it would be very productive for pan fish... has anyone tried using it for Walleyes at all? I took a look at the Medium or Medium Heavy rod with the yellow spring, and with the 3/8 oz jigging spoon I like to use I had to retract the spring almost all the way... has anyone used this setup for walleye fishing, especially jigging (I can see how they'd be handy for deadsticking too however)? Do you think this combination has produced more fish?

Thanks!

MM,

I haven't done a ton of eye fishing yet with my legends, but I do know the yellow spring handles 1/4 oz lures really well. Never tried a 3/8

If your deciding between the MH & M, I'd go with the Medium for eyes. The MH is a pretty darn sturdy rod. Even consider the ML

I didn't answer any of your questions, but that's about all I got for ya.

If you want another minnow rod, or if you downsize to a size 6 or 8 jig, the Legend will be a good rod for you. Most of the time out on Erie and Saginaw Bay down here, we go big so it really doesnt apply. I do like it for a dead stick concept with a live minnow and a lightly weighted minnow.
