I don't know if thats north burnet,my guess is that it is. It hits the river from the south 2 or 3 miles down river from the hwy 2 bridge. you drive along the tracks in either direction once you get to the river.

Fisher Dave, I would'nt mind fishing around Floodwood sometime. Never went after cats there. I've fished Pouper(spelling)with limited success. I ran into a guy last yr. at fishermans corner that was buying ciscoes.I askd him if he was going after lakers and he said no he was going after northerns in the river up in Floodwood. He said he'd been catching 20 ld. plus fish. I don't remember for sure but it might have been through the ice. Either way it sounded intersting

Reef ...

I am new to living in the area but have had family in the direct area forever.

The info you got on the pike was true. They get some huge pike in the rivers here in the winter especially. The summer puts out a fair number also.

I have recieved some great info from family on the river here .. places to closely focus on .. just waiting for the opener to come.

Its 6:45 and I'm heading that way .. at least to see whats going on.

I'm not exactly sure where the mouth is but I'll do my best to find it.

If you see (or seen) a white cherokee wandering around with no idea where they're going .. that was me.

How'd you guys do? I can't make it out until Fri. or Sat. night. I've never fished cats this early in the year. I think I'm going to give it a try and get the cobb webs off my long poles.

By the time we got fishing (just before dark) we managed to get 2 decent cats by the time I left around 11 pm.

bearhunter had quite a few bities but the hookup ratio wasnt good.

The cat I brought home to eat was so full of crayfish that I'm surprised it tried to take my bait.

Between the bonfire, 2 lanturns waterside, flaming gas can, and the northern lights .. most the fish were probably trying to get a safe distance away from us?

May have been the best bite of the year in Floodwood (20 miles away)...

Every time I've intended to make it out its been 40 mph wind gust ant the temp hovering around 35 degrees ... between that and a bait shop that doesnt carry bait until the opener didnt help... dont know of any decent creeks to set a trap in the area do you? Nothing but crappie minnows and fatheads up here.

There have been some cats caught in my area in the daytime, and also between us at the railroad bridge at night. Nobody has been fishing them here.

If you would like to make it out any time let me know. I'm always willing to go... also of you want to get out in the boat its ready to hit the water anytime.

email me and we'll hook up

A friend of mine got one but I was'nt so lucky. It was the last season to hunt so they were real spooked. I had some within 50 yrds or so but I could'nt get them any closer and in view. I had some hens real close but no toms. I thought I had one figured out so at 4 in the morning I was where I thought I could get him. But I scared him out of his roost setting up for him. Did'nt know he was going to be that close.

When do you guys want to hook up and get some cats?

The fishing has been moderately productive up here when you get to the spot before the local kids with the M-80's ... I hope their supply runs out soon.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
