Ready to put floor down

I am ready to start. I picked up my 7x16 drop down frame and since it was beautiful out today I rolled the whole thing with truck bedliner. I am looking for any good ways of putting in a light set-up sandwitch type floor. It was suggested to do 5/8 then 1 1/2 then 5/8 treated. I have enough support on the frame and was wondering if I went with maybe a 1/4 inch base maybe out of coated luan or underlayment.Or if I sprayed on insulation do you think it would be O.K. to go w/o the first support layer? confused.gif

I think a lot depends on the spacing of the structural members in your drop-axle frame. Are they 16" O.C.? 24" O.C.? or something else? That is going to be the determing factor with how far you can span plywood before your floor will "give" or bounce when you walk on it.

Another thing to consider is your hole placement. If you put a bunch of holes in an area or in a line, that will considerably weaken the assembly too.

5/8" plywood, 1 1/2" pink rigid insul, and 5/8" plywood is probably the way I would go. You could probably get away with 1/2" plywood on each side but I wouldn't do that if your frame members are 24" apart.

Remember, the floor is the foundation of your shack and once its down and the walls are up, it'll be really, really hard to fix any mistakes in the future.
