Do you direct tie a spoon / Swim Bait?

Looking for some feedback? I have seen where many ice anglers will tie on a barrell swivel 2-3' above their jigging spoons and swim baits to eliminate line twist. I was also wondering if you tie on a barrel clip to your lures if that takes away any of the action from the spoon or swim bait or if direct tying is best?

I tie on a cross snap for spoons and some swim baits but with most swim baits I tie direct. I also almost always put a swivel up my line to stop line twist. I like power pro to the swivel then a good clear line to the snap.

I like the cross snap as well right at the spoon. It makes switching spoons really simple.

I usually tie direct with spoons and swimming lures, but there are times when using some sort of connection can really help. How deep your fishing can play a role, as well as any current produced under the water. The lure can also make a huge difference in how you connect it to the line. I would also say the target specie can play a role as well...
