tipup fishing on a river and a current?

Snake River King

Recommended Posts

I fish the snake river all the time and in the winter time I fish in the eddy, my question is could a person go out on the main current by a lodge jam and drill a hole and set up a tipout and put a floater hook on and sinker and drop the sinker to the bottom and set the tipup up and catch fish?

Yes. I use a simular rig all the time. Make sure your weight is heavy enough so current doesnt slowly work it down river or you will get false flags all the time. Another way is to just run a drop shot rig off your tip up. A 3 way rig will also work fine. I prefer a slip rig though so fish dont feel much resistance. River/Current fish arent as picky on resistance as lake fish though so all will work.
