question about pike on rivers

hey everyone,

im new to these forums here. I was wondering if anyone knew about the pike activity going on in the rivers lately. i was thinking of trying around pike island, where the minnesota and missisippi meet. I have heard this is a good spot, but i dont know with the temperatures. Can anyone tell me if this is a good spot for pike and if it would be worth the time due to weather conditions?

Pike in the rivers can be tricky this time of year. The rivers are changing and temps are all over the board not to mention waters slowwing wayyyy down. I would look towards stable backwaters that are deep enough to hold O2, baitfish and enough room to roam. Pike will be settling into backwaters ambushes that they will hold all winter long. Winter river pike will humble ya, don't expect great things.

Welcome bubster77. I used to run the dogs on Pike Island a lot and have seen lots of people fishing there, more early season than later. Water is low, not sure what is there now.
