Deer Hunters To Do Calendar

Ok I know we are in the middle of this years deer hunting season, but if a guy wanted to be as proactive as possible for next season, I thought it might be neat to hear what types of deer / land management things people do in preparation for next years season. Here is my take on it...

Qtr 1 (January -March)

Time off??? Unsure... I guess a guy could supply extra feed if the winter is really hard on deer

Qtr 2 (April -June)

Antler Shed hunt, put out salt/mineral licks for early deer antler development, plant food plots, hang cameras, study aerial photos for new spots, and scout areas)

Qtr 3 (July -September)

Fertilize food plots, cut shooting lanes, build perm. stands or hand stands by mid Auguest, plant new fall winter food plots like "Honey Hole", keep scouting)

Qtr 4 (October- December)

Scout, look for scrapes, hunt, hunt, hunt

So do I have the right idea?

I think a lot of folks will tell you that right after season through January is one of the best times to scout. You know what deer are left, also you learn some post-hunting patterns that you may be able to use on the latter days of the gun season next year when the deer are spooked...
