DARK30
Anyone else ever had a catfish slam a crankbait? It may not be real common on some waters but I know of at least one small river where the Channels will smack a shad rap on a regular basis. I have had Flatheads hit Rapalas once in awhile but I think the Channels are more likely to chase down a fast moving lure in current. This last weekend on the Root River, I was reminded of the Channel Cat's willingness to grab a well placed Shadrap. I just didn't expect him to straighten out the hook! Guest
Although I have never targeted catfish with cranks or lures I have caught quite a few.Last year while fishing the horseshoe chain we picked up a few on shad raps.On the Miss near Monticello I have caught cats on minnow baits while fishing for smallmouth. When I pitch jigs for walleyes I get a few cats evey year.Matter of fact my biggest MN River channel cat (16lbs) came on a jig with a twister tail cast into shallow fast water.
