Earliest Flathead Bite?

CANOPY SAM

Recommended Posts

I tried to post this a while ago and it got lost again. Why does that keep happenin'?
Anyway, I was just sittin' here thinkin' - when can I start to huntin' a big flathead. What with the weird spring weather we've been havin' I'm startin' to get an awful itch for a river fishing trip. How soon can we expect to see big cats puttin' on the feed bag down here?
Hey fellas, another thing. I just caught a fishing show on the tube where Pete Maina was live riggin' a huge sucker minnow for Musky. I couldn't quite tell for sure - cause the camera work was pretty worthless - but I think he used rubber bands to hold his quick strike rig to the bait. I bet that'd work real good for Flatheads. I think the bait would be a lot livelier for a longer period of time. Whataya think?

Well it can't be too far off.I am usually chasing crappies and eyes the beginning of the season but have hooked a few big cats while jigging for those white tips.If the weather would turn to warm up that water we could be on them soon.
That an interesting idea.Rubber bands to attach your bait.Heck they use springs and wire to attach baits for offshore fishing.Might be something to monkey with.
