Fishing in Minnesota?

hello folks
I am coming to Minnesota in 3 months and taking a Beachcaster and tripod,
I wondered if anybody had experience of Catfish or the heavier
type of fishing there, also the Mississippi River there!
also is it legal to use lead weights in USA Rivers or Lakes?

Yes you can still use lead sinkers in Minnesota.There are parts of the USA wher they have been banned.There is some good bank fishing along both the Miss. and MN rivers.What part of the state are you going to visit?

Waseca is just a short drive to Mankato and there are some good shore fishing spots along the Minnesota River there.The open water season is just getting started so keep an eye out on the forums for updates on whats bitting and where to try.When you get here maybee we can get together for some fishing.We are having a fishing get together for Flathead catfish on July 20th on the Minnesota River in Carver.Maybee you will be able to join us and meet other anglers.

How long are ya gonna be in town Malcolm?

Minnesotans are the friendliest people in the US (except when driving on the roads). Should be no problem to find some people to fish with.
