Save the James River

For catfisherman good rivers are a treasure that need our protection and care.

There is a plan to channelize the James River in SD, a prime flathead catfish river. We anglers need to make our collective voices heard before this so called "river clean up" destroys a rare and productive fishery.

Tony Dean, myself, and other concerned anglers are voicing our collective concerns to this insain plan. If you too wish to help let the powers that be know what you feel, drop in at this site and do so.

If we do not act a beautiful river will soon be dredged of it's snags and the heart of the river will be torn from the chest of mother nature.

(Please forgive me Rick for posting this off site link but as it is a regional issue this forum may help to turn the public opinion. They need to hear our collective voices on this one or it will be too late for the James River.)

I have never fished the James but Thats Crazy! If they think that taking a few snags out of a river is going to prevent it from flooding they haven't done enough research. Its man himself medling with the natural actions of nature which screws thing up.If increased flow is what they are after all they will do is create more problems downstream. And ruin a natural resource in the process.

HI ED,
IT DON'T SOUND GOOD TO ME! ITS FUNNY THAT WHEN "THEY" WANT TO HELP MOTHER NATURE ITS OK BUT WHEN "YOU" WANT TO DO SOMETHING WITH A WATERWAY ITS CRIMINAL!
WHERE IS THIS JAMES RIVER? ARE THERE SPECIAL REGS IN PLACE FOR THE CATS?
WET NETS!

The James is the best flathead water in SD. Very few left in the upper midwest and they wish to $%$% it up to maybe save a few acres from occasional flooding.

The James River has some powerful friends so maybe it will get the attention it needs before they fire up the dredge and kill it? Lets hope so.

A true flathead hunter like yourself may wish to drop a few comments on Tony Deans site. Tony is a pro-James river sportsman so he will do his part for sure to see it is saved.

Voices need to be heard so they know it will not go through without a fight!
