South Dakota True Ice Tournaments

Recommended Posts

Dakota Angler is one of the proud sponsors of a new Ice Fishing Tourney series called "True Ice". It's being formed by five guys from the Sioux Falls area that participated in the Dakota Angler Ice Fishing League last year. We all know there are plenty of fishermen that are competitive or would like to participate in an event with the possibility of winning some cash. Well, the True Ice Series will fill that need. Also be aware that you can participate in the Dakota Angler Ice Fishing league at the same time.

"True Ice" will have a total of four events, with the Championship being the fifth event. Each of the four events will be at different locations and will cost $25 per event to participate. A person does not have to participate in each of the events. You choose which ones you want to fish and they pay the appropriate entry fee. But remember, the entry fees are non-refundable! 100 percent of the entry fees will be given back as prizes. To qualify for the Championship event, a person needs to finish in the top 10 at one of the preliminary events. Each of the events will be capped at 40, so it will be a first come, first serve basis. Dakota Angler will handle all registrations, but the registration period will not begin until November 24, 2006 - the day after Thanksgiving.

A True Ice Series "Kick-off" event will take place at Dakota Angler at a date that will be announced later. Plus, other information will be posted here on this forum in future dates.

For more info contact the Dakota Angler Bait Shop in Sioux Falls, SD.

I want to add these are going to be classy, professional, and fun events. We have teams arranged already to serve as officials and judges during the tournament. We have a state-of-the-art tournament scale on the way that weighs down to .01lb. Before fishing begins, there will be a shack and equipment inspection just so everyone can be insured that we will be holding an "honest" event.

We can't wait to let all the info out, and look forward to kicking this thing off. We also want to thank our existing sponsors, especially DAKOTA ANGLER, for all their help. If anyone else has a business and is interested in jumping in as a sponsor, let me know.

Also, make sure to tell your friends about this in case they don't check this site regularly. It should fill up fast.

It is singles--Here is an explanation why.... I also like the team setup, but we know how hard it can be for a person and his partner to make up to five tournaments together on 5 different dates. If you qualified with one partner you have to fish the Championship with them too. Some people have trouble finding a partner and we don't want to limit them.

I know we will all have fun fishing out there together. Carpool with your buddies, or pull each other out on the lake with your ATV or Sled, we just don't want you communicating about if you are catching fish or not while on the ice.

That is how we have it planned for this year. In the future that may change.

Also, Dakota Jim, if you are out there we may as well call it the Redneck fishing classic.
