walleye wisher
I know it's not a recipe question, but a lot of you seem to know about smokers. So, do you know where I could find a how to book on converting an old freezer into a smoker. Thanks in advance.

1tofish
First, strip all the plastic parts out such as drawers, shelves, etc... Then I would cut a hole in the top to fit a small piece of stove pipe with a damper. Determine where your racks are going to be. You can use existing racks or buy new ones. Also determine how you are going to hang your dowels for the sausage. What's your heat source? Are you going to need any accesses for hoses or electrical cords? After it's setup turn on the heat and give it a test run. There's not much to it. Good Luck!
Harmonica Bear
I'd be intersted in that as well.
Guest
I think a 55gal drum would be easier! Just punch holes in it and run some dowels threw to hold up the grils (from an old weber). Throw a piece of plywood over the top and away you go. If you cut off the top and bottom you can just set it over your coals. Just go to a store that and look at the smokers to see how they are made. At Wall-Mart Last year I got a char-coal smoker for $10.00.
Rolly22
Good ideas, if you need to keep the heat down, use a separate heat source and pipe the smoke in.
