Bob Horn
I just bought a trailer for my canoe and I was going to change the bunks because I wanted them longer and on there side. I was wondering if it would matter if the bunks were carpeted or not. The canoe weighs 125 empty and loaded about 500 including me in it. What do you think? Powerstroke
So I take it you load your canoe onto a normal boat trailer so that it travels hull-down? Having some sort of material on your bunks to protect the hull of your boat is important if this is how you plan to travel with your boat. Most canoe setups use foam to protect the gunwalls when they are carried upsidedown so having carpet or something sililar on your bunks to protect you boat is a good idea in my opinion. Bob Horn
I bought a canoe called a Gheenoe from Florida. It handles a 10hp motor. The canoe by itself weighs 125. It's made of fiberglass. That's why I had to get a trailer for it. I'm thinking of trying Marine grade(Plastic)decking.
