redtails

I've been going out to a local river and catching some redtails for bait using a ultralight rig with a very small jig and piece of crawler. The past month I could usually catch a dozen or so in a short while. The past week they seemed to have vanished. Can't seem to find any. What's up with that? Do I just need to find a different spot or do they cycle to a different area this time of year?

Just curious.
