Try Microsoft's Live Local site. Not only does it do maps and directions, but aerial photography as well. And, if you are in an area that has the detail (Like Minneapolis/St. Paul) you can switch to the "Bird's Eye View" for a REALLY close up shot!

how close can you zoom in? the areas im interrested in in western minnesota dont have near enough the resolution im looking for on google earth. i guess i will have to crack a beer, sit my butt back down and check this out tonight.

well the plus side is that live local offers better resolution when zooming way in, but unfortunately its done through the use of outdated aerial photos that are at least 6 years old. i guess im going to have to pay to find what im looking for.

Yeah, unfortunately, it depends on the area. Check out the detail in the twin cities area. Its amazing. If you want newer high quality aerial images check out the site of MN LMIC data, alot of it is from the last 3 years. Let me know if you cant find it I will get you the address.
